Club History:
North Valley Misfits began in 2005 as a means for the Pinnacle High School wrestling team to get some additional practice as well as exposure to different styles of wrestling. It is our firm belief that this additional exposure to both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling makes for a better all around wrestler. The Club was founded by Coach Jimmy Lopez and Alan Schmidgall. In our first year we had a total of 6 wrestlers that were committed to excelling at their sport. All six of these wrestlers were members of the Pinnacle High School wrestling team. By 2008 the Club had grown to approximately 16 wrestlers and we had two them qualify and compete in Nationals if Fargo, North Dakota, Grady Woods and Riley Woods. We made a great leap in 2009 by expanding the club to athletes of all ages. The Club ballooned to over 35 competing members, varying in age from 5 years up to 18 years, and representing North Valley Misfits in all age groups from Rookie to Open Class.
We have since had several wrestlers place at the Arizona State Tournament; qualify for the Western Regional Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho, and the National Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota. We look forward to continued growth and success as the North Valley Misfits takes its place as a premier wrestling club in Arizona and beyond.
